Bamurru Plains
Welcome to Bamurru Plains, the all-inclusive Australian safari camp in the Northern Territory’s tropical Top End, home to some of the country’s most spectacular bird and wildlife.
The true luxury of Bamurru Plains is its location, a beautiful wilderness region of over 300 square kilometres, home to one of the largest crocodile populations in the world and the annual migration of over one hundred thousand magpie geese – an incredible sight and sound to behold.
An off-grid destination on a water buffalo station off the beaten track, the Bamurru Plains infrastructure occupies a small footprint with only twelve accommodation lodgings sharing exclusive access to the floodplain and savanna woodland on the Mary River, on the edge of Kakadu National Park.
Bamurru Plains opens exclusively for guests from March to October annually, and is closed during the peak monsoonal seasons each year.
All-inclusive wildlife experience
Watch as hundreds of birds take flight, scan the shallows for saltwater crocodiles as you skim across floodplains by airboat, or cruise the Sampan River watching for silver flashes of fish breaking the surface. On guided walks and drives search for brumbies, buffalo, dingos and wallabies or pause to consider an intriguing reptile or the adaptations of a particular insect.
The Wild Bush Luxury influence brings a uniquely Australian style to each stay: a down-to-earth yet attentive level of service, fully-inclusive chef-prepared meals paired with Australian wines, and a team of hosts and guides who are passionate and knowledgeable about the local area and its wildlife.
Rewild in your own oasis
Sleep in safari-style comfort in our bush camp bungalows and retreats, designed to immerse you in an untamed natural environment from the moment you wake up. Whether travelling as a couple, a family or a group, there are options to suit all.
Sleep in safari style
Bamurru Plains has a small footprint, with only ten safari bungalows and two larger safari private retreats: the Kingfisher Suite and Jabiru Retreat.
Each overlook the floodplain and with the unique feature of mesh walls, you can hear, see and almost touch the wildlife and wilderness around you, waking to the call of the magpie geese as the orange light of dawn spreads across the floodplains.
At night, there are no city sights or sounds, just the chorus of the Australian bush, while agile wallabies and buffalo move by in silhouette against the moon.
