‘Wild Tastes of the Top End’: a culinary safari of Bamurru Plains

Join us as we welcome multi-hatted Australian chef, James Viles, back to Bamurru Plains.

Over four days experience a hands-on culinary safari, sampling native ingredients and wild bush flavours that are distinct to this Australian Top End habitat and ecosystem.

James is renowned for an approach to food that promotes a sustainable and respectful food culture – an ethos shared by Bamurru Plains, a Wild Bush Luxury experience.

Explore the 300 square kilometres of floodplain and savannah woodlands that border Kakadu National Park, and unearth the natural beauty and rich diversity of this unique Northern Territory food bowl.

  • Day One
    Scenic air transfer departs Darwin at 1pm, landing thirty minutes later at Bamurru Plains’ private airstrip. Enjoy a warm Wild Bush Luxury greeting, and in the evening, a welcome dinner hosted by James Viles and the Bamurru Plains team.
  • Day Two
    Enjoy multiple Bamurru Plains airboat and overland 4WD sensory safari adventures, experiencing the rich Top End landscape and its abundant wildlife. Enjoy an afternoon sundowner before tonight feasting on a bush camp-out dinner under the outback stars prepared by James Viles.
  • Day Three
    Journey deep into the property with a hands-on foraging experience led by James and our culinary team. Say goodbye to new friend over a farewell feast hosted by James and Bamurru Plains’ General Manager, Matthew Bowen.
  • Day Four
    Enjoy a last sunrise safari or a morning at leisure, before departing Bamurru Plains mid-morning. Enjoy a scenic route home over the Adelaide River, before arriving back in Darwin by lunchtime.

The experience includes:

  • Four day itinerary hosted by Bamurru Plains and special guest James Viles, including bespoke menus and hands-on culinary experiences
  • Three nights’ accommodation at Bamurru Plains, offering an immersive wildlife stay.
  • All-inclusive meals and beverages, including Australian wines and spirits from a generous open bar
  • Guided wilderness experiences, including airboat and overland open-air 4WD safari drives
  • Return charter flights from Darwin to Bamurru Plains.

Our ten Safari Bungalows offer the perfect blend of comfort
while allowing guests to privately immerse in the natural
surrounds. Surrounded by expansive mesh walls, we invite you
to feel connected to the environment while ensuring your
comfort and safety. From your king-sized bed, witness nature
and wildlife from sunrise to the vast night sky.

Kingfisher Suite – SOLD OUT 
$6,450 per person, based on twin-share Suite
This is the largest of the safari bungalows. The Kingfisher Suite
is three times the size, featuring a king size bed and a roomier
interior with a private lounging and dining space. The Suite
shares the signature ceiling to floor mesh walls, to immerse in
the natural surrounds with wildlife all around.
