Bamurru Plains Fishing

The Top End of Australia is renowned for its spectacular coastal floodplains, billabongs and mangrove fringed tidal rivers that empty into the Arafura Sea.  Each year in the 'wet season', usually January to March, the floodplains are replenished with the monsoonal rains and the flora, fauna and fish of the Top End spring to life.

In addition to its extraordinary natural beauty and prolific wildlife, this region boasts one of the worlds great sports fish, the mighty Barramundi, both in the river systems and in the 'run off' on the floodplains.

The prime fishing seasons are in February to May with the 'run off' as the fresh floodwaters from the 'wet' flow off the floodplains into the tidal river and creek channels and in October/November with the 'build up' to the wet.

Local fishing spots that are accessible from Bamurru Plains include Shady Camp, Corroboree Billabong and the Tommycut and Sampan Creeks.

River Fishing

Bamurru Plains is uniquely located on the lower reaches of the Sampan Creek with private access to the river on Swim Creek Station.  The feeder creeks of the Sampan provide excellent fishing during the wet season months and huge barramundi are a regular catch. (Enquire for costs)

Floodplain Fishing

A highlight for any fisherman at Bamurru, however, is fishing on the Swim Creek floodplain by airboat.  The camp's airboats are fitted with casting decks to maximise the experience of fishing the floodplain in spots that are accessible to camp guests only. (Enquire for costs)

The 'Run Off' in the Top End of the Northern Territory is a fisherman's bonanza!  Bamurru Plains' luxury safari camp provides a spectacular venue on the edge of the floodplains where you will enjoy world class fishing, food and wines.  Our fishing packages offer a combination of river and floodplain fishing with specialist guides.  

Package Includes:

• Twin-share accommodation in a Safari Bungalow
• All meals and beverages based on a select open bar
• Fishing with private guide (maximum 3 people per boat plus guide)
• Maximum of 12 people per departure

Package Excludes:

• Transport between Darwin and Bamurru Plains.  This can be arranged at an additional either by light aircraft, helicopter or private road transfer.
• Travel insurance
